The Ethical Vandal Society Vol.1 exhibition will be held on 8 November 2026 at the Not For Sale Gallery in London. This exhibition explores the concept of destruction in relation to value and memory, featuring three sculptures that challenge traditional archival practices. The event aims to create an experience that is not documented or reproduced.
Does destruction take something away or create it?
Archives decide what matters. They select, preserve and assign value, and in doing so they quietly decide what is forgotten. The Archive of Destruction unsettles this logic by gathering artworks remembered precisely because they were lost. Its stories suggest that an ending is never quite an ending.
The Ethical Vandal Society takes this as a provocation. If value is something granted, by institutions, markets and those who keep the records, then it can also be questioned, redistributed or refused. Perhaps what an artwork leaves behind matters as much as the object itself, a memory, a feeling, a relationship, a story retold.
The Ethical Vandal Society brings together three sculptures; we invite you into a gathering that will not be documented, reproduced or saved. What takes place belongs only to those who are there to witness it. Rather than speak for the artists, we hand them the mic, so they can share their own experience of making, holding on and letting go.
This is an archive that cannot be revisited, a communal celebration for things that will not stay the same.
