Experience Tudor music and storytelling aboard The Golden Hinde as the Morley Consort concludes its Devon and London tour.

Step aboard The Golden Hinde for an intimate evening of early music with the acclaimed Morley Consort, as they bring the sounds of Tudor England to life in the atmospheric surroundings of London's iconic historic ship.

Presented as the London finale of their Of Still and Loud Noise tour, this unique performance explores pivotal moments in English history through music, historical readings and storytelling. Encompassing legends of King Arthur, Viking raids, civil war and changing climates, the programme culminates aboard a reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake's famous vessel, reflecting on his circumnavigation of the globe and the musicians who accompanied the voyage.

Contemporary accounts record that "expert musitians" travelled with Drake, their viols providing moments of reflection and lament during the expedition. Inspired by these remarkable stories, the Morley Consort interweaves music with first-hand historical accounts to recreate the soundworlds of the Elizabethan period in one of the most fitting settings imaginable.

Drawn together by a shared passion for reimagining historical performance, the ensemble combines applied research, craftsmanship and a fresh approach to early music, bringing rarely heard techniques and practices from primary sources vividly to life for modern audiences.

Before arriving in London, Of Still and Loud Noise will tour venues across Devon on 17, 18, 19 and 20 September, celebrating the region so closely associated with Sir Francis Drake before concluding aboard The Golden Hinde on Bankside.

Made possible through funding from the Continuo Foundation, this promises to be a captivating evening of music, history and storytelling in one of London's most distinctive performance spaces.
