About The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera at 57 Haymarket, London, tells the story of the Phantom, who lives beneath the Paris Opera House, and his love for Christine Daaé. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score, together with the production’s scenery and special effects, brings this tragic love story to the stage.

The musical first opened on Thursday 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles. Since then, it has become one of the highest-grossing musicals of all time, won 70 major theatre awards, and been seen by over 140 million people worldwide.

Key facts: Duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes including one interval. Listed performance times are Monday to Friday at 7.30pm, with Saturday performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Before you book

Children under the age of 4 will not be admitted into the theatre. All persons aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and may not sit on their own within the auditorium. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a valid ticket.

You will receive a confirmation email with your e-ticket. Please print it and bring it on the day, and arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance start time. Valid ID may also be required.

No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. Please note that Stalls Row N-S will have the top of the staging obscured by the Royal Circle overhang, and single seats cannot be left in a row when booking.
