The Textile Society is a broad and active constituency with considerable expertise and knowledge across its membership. As such, it is important that the Society reflects the aims, ambitions and practices of its members, and inspires and attracts new members in the future. Since 2021, the Society membership has increased from approximately 350 to 900+, elevated the status of its awards and bursaries, and raised the quality of design for its publications and website. All of these provide an excellent platform for development.

To ensure that the Society continues to promote the study of textile disciplines, both traditional and contemporary, this research symposium highlights Advocacy and Activism as a key focus for the future. The schedule introduces a programme of diverse position papers with time for members to discuss the ideas presented.
