Join us for the UNION-IP Autumn Dinner for a discussion on where AI tools stand now how to prepare for what's next.

We are all being pressed to use AI, whether by our clients, our colleagues or by companies selling AI tools. Generally, a lot of private talk in our industry is either “end of days” for the profession, or otherwise an expression of how the tools aren’t actually very good. Based on several requests from our members, our Council therefore thought it would be good to hold a dinner event at which we all receive some level headed advice about where AI tools are going to take us, and what we need to be doing now to prepare for the future.

We are therefore delighted to have Parminder Lally and Virginia Driver speaking to us at our autumn dinner and discussing where AI tools are going to take us with our work.

Parminder is well known within the patent profession as an attorney who works on patenting complex AI inventions and blogs about protecting AI, as well as for her time serving on CIPA’s Council. She is currently the Vice Chair of CIPA’s AI Committee and has delivered educational webinars for the profession on how to select AI tools for IP work. She is a Partner at Appleyard Lees, where she also sits on the firm’s AI steering group.

You will all know Virginia, having been a member of our Council for many years and as our current UK delegate to the Union-IP Bureau. She was a patent attorney and partner at Page White Farrer for over 35 years until 2025, when she co-founded AttainIP, a spinout from Page White Farrer with AI tools for use by patent attorneys.

Venue: We return to Le Café du Marché, Charterhouse Square (22 Charterhouse Square, Barbican, London EC1M 6DX). Places are limited to 50 attendees only, so please book early to avoid disappointment!

Time: Drinks from 6pm for 6.45pm dinner, address by the speaker at about 8pm to finish by no later than 9pm, with the bar (and pub!) remaining open for those wishing to continue discussions in an informal atmosphere.
