Explore the fundamentals of subtractive synthesis with the Erica Synths Bullfrog, led by Jacq Noise.

Up Close with Bullfrog

Join Jacq Noise for an afternoon exploring the Erica Synths Bullfrog and the fundamentals of subtractive synthesis.

Starting with oscillators, filters and envelopes, the session will look at how electronic sounds are generated and shaped before moving into patching, sound design and using those ideas creatively in composition. Bullfrog workshop description

The workshop is designed for people beginning to explore synthesis, but is open to anyone interested in spending time with the Bullfrog. No previous experience is needed.

12:00–13:30

Bullfrog, subtractive synthesis, patching and sound design with Jacq Noise.

13:30–14:30

Time to develop and record your sounds, followed by a final wrap-up.

Bullfrog was created by Erica Synths with Richie Hawtin as an instrument for learning synthesis through experimentation. Its patchable architecture makes it possible to follow how sound is generated, shaped and changed.

What to bring

Headphones with a 3.5 mm connection.

If you would like to record your sounds and take them home, bring a handheld audio recorder and suitable 1/4-inch cables.
