Casual Devastation Presents: Video Screening 🏥

A night of short films that capture the best of Los Angeles’s underground cinema and Montreal’s bountiful video-art scene. The films include an assortment of dissolving video-paintings, body-vibrating blast beats, and ancient-tales accompanied by the fumes of burning celluloid projectors. Expect VHS tape thrillers, phantasmagoric odysseys, soul-teasing interludes and ethereal spongebathes.

In addition to entertainment, these films implore a wide variety of health benefits including: dissolving brain fog, vitamin C, mental illness flush, peptides, visual static clean-up and symbiotic creativity absorption. Jennifer Juniper Stratford is a director and video artist from Hollywood, California. Inspired by a love of video art, outsider cinema, and experimental animation, her work feels like something you might catch on late-night cable or on an obscure video cassette. Her work has been exhibited at MoCA, Palais De Tokyo Paris, Whitney Museum, public access channels across the United States.

Jonah Bergman presenting A Conversation with a Monster (2021).

Jonah Bergman is a filmmaker, musician and mixed media artist based out of Los Angeles California. He is a champion of analog filmmaking techniques and utilizes 16mm film, super 8 and broadcast tube cameras in his work. Jonah Bergman is the director of Conversations with a Monster, Music for the Chinadoll and more.

Kai Thorpe presenting Video Cosmetics (2023).

Kai Thorpe is a musician and visual artist from Montreal, Canada. Decorated like a primary school sketchbook, his dopamine-bleogeoning film Video Cosmetics blends video-synth embryos with after-life cinema, suggesting heaven is emblazoned with VHS tape saturation. Inspired by German expressionism, Salvidor Dali and psycho cybernetics, his taste presents the feeling of losing all your childhood photos in a tragic house fire.

Ocean Buxton presenting Prophétesse (2026).

Océane Buxton is a visual artist and filmmaker whose practice spans video, photography, sound design, textiles, digital art and performance. Fascinated by Hollywood folklore, Quebec pop culture, gossip and the internet's underbelly, she observes media personalities that spark her curiosity while examining her own way of looking at them. Originally from Quebec City and based in Montreal since 2017.

Dante Capone presenting Pride (2026).

Dante Capone is an LA based filmmaker specializing in analog techniques, whose films include Tabernacle, Brotherly Sisterly Love, and is a member of Primordial Freak Productions.
