A walk through the park, using writing to explore how movement, attention and place can open up new ways of seeing and writing.
Join Taran Khan (https://www.rlf.org.uk/writer/taran-khan/) for Walk to Write, a 90-minute guided session in Crystal Palace Park, exploring how walking, attention and place can open up new ways of writing.
You will interact with sensory cues and objects on the route to explore how moving through a space can generate ideas, images and stories.
Meet Taran at the Vicar's Oak, the park gate at the corner of Crystal Palace Parade and Anerley Hill
The walk is expected to take 90 minutes and will end near the Concert Platfrom
Crystal Palace Park is on a hill, we will be walking downhill but expect some uneven surfaces, gravel paths and steps
This will be a small group walk of approximatley 12 people, if you are no longer able to join please cancel your ticket so that someone else can book
Please note that with donation tickets there can only be one ticket booked per person, for a second ticket please book again, thanks
This event is based on Taran's writing-and-walking teaching approach developed with different groups of non-professional writers, including Afghan women writers at risk. It explores how walking can unlock new ideas and push through creative blocks, and helps participants transform their experience of passing through a place into new stories.
For this event, Taran has adapted that approach into a 90-minute session in Crystal Palace Park. The shorter format will focus on the central relationship between walking, attention, place and writing, with a small number of accessible prompts.
Taran is interested in the location of the Crystal Palace Park as it contains a range of landscapes, histories and conflicting narratives to encounter while walking.
