About This Event

"When Adam delved and Eve span, who was then the gentleman?" - John Ball Amid the release of a major Hollywood film about the bloody revolt in England of 1381, this walk traces the path of the invading peasants through London's ancient City. Using contemporary writings from the St Alban's and Froissart chronicles we tell the tale of the peasants' hopes, their violent excesses, and the ultimate response of boy king Richard II. A time of great crisis for England sparked by war, taxation, inequality and greed, and culminating in a bloody showdown just outside the walled city.
