The third weekend in October sees the Flemish city of Hasselt spring to life for its jenever festival. In 2026, the Hasselt Jenever Festival will be on 17 and 18 October. Tradition has it that the ‘Borrel Man’, a fountain in the middle of the city, changes water into jenever (gin) on the Saturday, so expect plenty of flowing libations. The following day will see a competition for the traditional waiter. Borrel Man Fountain Take part in the Jenever walk or ride on the Jenever train. There will be music in the streets, and a great atmosphere. This really is an incredible festival that promises to turn the city of Hasselt on its head.
