Beginners Jewellery workshop - Made, Found, Upcycled and Recycled
Benefits Animal Support Angels
Making your own jewellery is easier than you think! With a little practice, you'll soon be able to make stunning, unique pieces to match any outfit, or to give as personalised presents.
This workshop is suitable for older children, teens and adults, however anyone aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult participant over the age of 18.
Tools, findings, beads and charms will be provided. We are focussing on including Made, Found, Upcycled and Recycled elements in our pieces. We will have a few ideas available, but please do bring along anything that you think would look good as earrings, a necklace or bracelet. We may not have all the tools needed to complete your project on the day, but can certainly help with figuring out how it could work, and teach you many of the basic techniques you'll need.
We will learn about basic tools and findings, then I will demonstrate 3 jewellery making techniques by making earrings, which can also be used in many other types of jewellery:
Using jump rings, with emphasis on the correct way to open and close them
Simple loops using round nose pliers and wire cutters
Wrapped loops using round nose pliers, wire cutters and holding pliers
You will then have the chance to choose your components and technique, and have a go at making something. Kristy will be on hand to help out if needed.
Participants will leave the session with a handout showing the techniques used, as well as the jewellery you've managed to complete during the workshop. All participants should take away *at least* one piece of jewellery, but most will manage several.
*Please note that this course will only run if a minum of 3 tickets have been sold - if there are fewer than 3 participants booked by the end of the day before the workshop, I'm afraid I will need to cancel and refund your ticket.
If you would like to attend but this date does not suit you, please contact me to be informed when more dates become available; or alternatively a private workshop can be arranged in your home or mine.
Tea and coffee will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own refreshments if you prefer.
