Are you a 30+ woman (or gender minority) snowboarder? Come and take a snow day with us! Join us for an exciting day of snowboarding at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, just an hour from London! Our aim is to create an event allowing women & gender minorities over the age of 30 to enjoy the thrill of snowboarding in a supportive and fun environment. Start the day with an energising yoga session led by an experienced yoga teacher, followed by time on the slopes. We’ll then split into two groups: beginners will enjoy a 2-hour snowboarding lesson, while experienced riders can take advantage of a 6-hour lift pass to ride independently. Whether you're new to snowboarding or refining your skills, this event is perfect for you. We'll all have lunch at ‘The Lodge’ to refuel and share your experience with new friends (food and refreshments not included in ticket price) and if you need to get some work done, you can use the space in between boarding. Yoga Session: Expect a fun sequence tailored to warm up nicely before you hit the slopes. From loosening the hips to improving core stability and finding focus, you will feel energised and ready to board! Bring your own mat, but let us know if you're struggling and we'll try to bring one for you. The Work and Play/Apres Ski: The Lodge within The Snow Centre offers a great area with free WiFi to work from with panoramic views over the slope, serves traditional favourites and delicious alpine dishes too (food and refreshments not included in ticket price). If you're a beginner, you'll have a 2-hour group snowboarding lesson, and after that, the rest of the day is yours—whether you want to work, have lunch, or relax. For the independent group the 6-hour lift pass gives you access to the slopes from 11am, and you can spend the day snowboarding or take breaks between work and calls—it's entirely up to you! Please note that The Lodge will be closed after 3pm on this day due to The Snow Centre hosting its Christmas party. The Snowboarding: Beginner Level: This level is for anyone who has never been on a board before but is interested in giving it a go. The instructor will first introduce you to the essential equipment and slope etiquette. Then you’ll move on to one footed skills, developing balance and posture, progressing on to toe and heel edge side slipping. And don’t worry if you're a beginner, you'll be joined by others who've never set foot on the slopes! Independent Group: Lift Pass access starts from 11am and finishes at 5pm. You must be able to meet the minimum slope standard, be able to control speed and direction, perform controlled linked turns, stop when required and use the button lift unassisted. Gear and Clothing: Helmets, boards and boot hire included in the price (or bring your own). Be sure to bring your own gloves, warm socks, and waterproof clothing. Clothing can be hired for £7 for one item, or £12 for both jacket and trousers. Waterproof gloves can be purchased for £12 and socks for £6 on the day, payable to The Snow Centre. It is recommended to bring a change of clothes for after just in case. Changing rooms and lockers are also available! Lockers are digital and are located on the 1st floor, they are free. Agenda: 9:00am-9:15am: Registration and welcome at The Lodge 9:30am-10:30am: Yoga 10:30am-11:00am: Gear up. Lift pass access starts at 11am. 11:00am-1:00pm: Beginner Snowboarding Lesson.
