Fantasy Forest Libertalia is a fantasy-themed festival held at Hatfield House on 4 September 2026 from 16:00. The event celebrates the fantasy genre with various activities and performances. Entry starts from £9.95.
Fantasy Forest is an independent festival, which first took place in 2019, and has continued to grow in popularity each year since, attracting visitors of all ages from across the UK and even overseas. The 2025 festival was the largest to date and welcomed 21,000 people (both return visitors and newcomers) to experience the magic of this one-of-a-kind event.
In 2026 Fantasy Forest will come to Hatfield House for the first time!
Festival-goers can expect a return of the ever-popular Costume Show and Costume Competition. Featuring a remarkable array of screen-accurate, creative and lovingly hand-crafted costumes, in addition to the costumed characters roaming the grounds, creating a fantastical ambience for this inimitable festival.
It has been confirmed that The Film Orchestra will be attending Fantasy Forest at Hatfield on Sunday with another outstanding performance of recognisable scores from fantasy and sci-fi films and games, including classics such as Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, and Doctor Who.
The Dream Stage and Dragon stage will host a score of national and international artists with The Longest Johns Headlining the Saturday, Corvus Corax (Germany) the Friday and Sunfire (The Netherlands) on Sunday. Other performances include Deloraine (Czech republic), Prima Nocta (Belgium), Le Driadi (Italy), Wight Hot Pipes (UK) and Trolska Polska (Denmark).
The Dancing Oak Stage will feature Balfolk dancing workshops and balfolk bands from all over Europe throughout the weekend while games fans may not want to leave the 432m2 boardgames, minuature games and DND marquee until closing time!
The Cosplay Court will feature the Costume Show and Costume competition on the Royal Stage and lots of costume making workshops, talks and panels throughout the Court.
For a look into a possible future visit the Wastes. A post-apocalyptic area with its own stage, workshops and activitties. Where you can learn all you need to know how to survive in a post apocalyptic world (and how to dress!)
Or take a step back in time and enoy some ale in the Medieval village where visitors can step back in time and try their hand at medieval life skills such as archery, or watch a thrilling, immersive live battle reenactment.
A range of ticket types is on sale now, including day tickets, weekend tickets and camping tickets. The whole family is welcome, with children under 7 free, and dogs are welcome as well, provided they are kept on a lead.
Ticket prices for adults are 17.95 on Friday, 42.95 on Saturday and 36.95 on Sunday. Or buy a 3-day pass for 89.95.
Hatfield House is located just north of London, 7 miles north of the M25. With ample parking available. Or travel by train with London's Kings Cross just 22 minutes away and the Hatfield trainstation opposite the entrance to the festival.
