About Sid Hudson Entertainments / Cali-R

Cali-R is a popular series of Motown and soul music events and reunions hosted across Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, by veteran DJ and promoter Sid Hudson.

Origins and History

The California Ballroom: Cali-R started as a tribute and continuation of the legacy of Dunstable's iconic California Ballroom which operated as a legendary youth and music venue during the 1960s and 1970s.

Launch: Sid Hudson organized the first reunion event in 1997 to recapture the spirit and glory days of the original venue.

Growth: What began as a small local gathering expanded into major regional events held at venues across Dunstable and Luton.

Genres: Events feature classic 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s Soul, Motown, Funk, and Reggae.

Live Acts: Alongside sets from Sid Hudson and guest DJs, the events frequently feature live tribute acts and performances celebrating legendary Motown artists.
