The Sourdough workshop will take place on 11 October 2026 at Pirton Village Hall in Luton. This workshop offers a friendly afternoon for participants to learn how to make sourdough bread, with no prior knowledge required. The ticket price is £89.16.
A simpler way to understand sourdough. No prior knowledge. Just a friendly afternoon of learning to make sourdough bread together.
You can bake great sourdough at home. I’ll show you how.Imagine taking a beautifully risen sourdough loaf from your own oven — golden, crackling and made entirely by you.
If sourdough has always felt complicated, unpredictable or slightly mysterious, come and spend an afternoon with me.
I’m Autumn, founder of The Little Bird Bakehouse. During my time running a micro-bakery from my home kitchen, I made thousands of loaves for people in my village and supplied fresh sourdough to local gastropubs.
Through all that baking, I learned what works, what doesn’t and how to solve the problems that can make sourdough feel so frustrating. Now I’d like to share that knowledge with you.
Together, we’ll work through the whole process: caring for your starter, mixing and strengthening your dough, folding, shaping and scoring. You’ll learn what to look for at every stage, understand what your dough is telling you and develop the confidence to make consistently good sourdough at home.
This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, as well as home bakers who have already started making sourdough but would like help troubleshooting their loaves.
What you’ll learn
How to feed, maintain and use a sourdough starter
How fermentation works and why temperature matters
How to mix, strengthen, stretch, fold and shape your dough
How to recognise when your dough is ready for its next stage
How to prove, score and bake your loaf at home
How to identify and solve common sourdough problems
What you’ll take home
Your own sourdough loaf, ready to bake at home
A mature sourdough starter to keep and use
