Create your own Lantern and join the festive fun at this years magical Lantern Parade on Saturday 12th December

Step into the magic of Christmas on Saturday 12th December with Altrincham’s Lantern Parade and The Gift of Christmas Trail. A day of festive celebration, music and magical moments awaits as Altrincham welcomes back its much-loved Lantern Parade.

Before the big event, we’ll be holding lantern-making workshops at Altrincham Town Hall — a fun, creative activity for children and families to enjoy together. Everyone who takes part can then join the parade with their handmade lanterns, making this a truly community celebration.

Families can embark on The Gift of Christmas Trail, an enchanting journey inviting children and adults alike to discover very special gifts including compassion, protection, independence, knowledge, care, courage, inspiration and generosity. Along the way, they’ll encounter remarkable people, past and present, who have shared these gifts with others through their lives and work.

As afternoon turns to evening, the excitement builds towards the highlight of the day: the magical Lantern Parade.

Setting off from Goose Green at 4.45pm, the parade will bring the streets to life with large lanterns, alongside lanterns created by local schools and the wider community in workshops during the day. Characters from The Gift of Christmas Trail will also join the procession.

The day’s celebrations will finish with a performance by the characters on the stage in Stamford Square.
