An Invitation to Tease... 💋 Burlesque Workshop Series with performers Cherie Bebe & Cadbury Parfait. £25 per person, per workshop — Booking Essential The Workshops We are pleased to be back with another series of workshops held at THE PROUD PLACE - MANCHESTER’S LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY CENTRE. 7pm-8:30pm / 1.5 hour workshop Each workshop invites you deeper into the world of burlesque and cabaret with a chance to experience a different theme at every session by International performers Cadbury Parfait & Cherie Bebe. Welcome to the world of Burlesque. 4th November - An Introduction to Burlesque From the classic showgirls to the rhythmic bumps & grinds. We will cover everything from poise and unlocking the sensuality of movement as well as vintage inspired shakes and shimmies made famous by burlesque icons of yesteryears. 11th November - The Art of the Striptease Learn the secrets of tease and how to use attire to really emphasise what you want to say with your body whether it’s for stage or for the bedroom. We invite you to experience the art of tease. 18th November - Serving Face & Theatricality Master expression, presence, and dramatic flair - own every gaze in the room and enhance your overall performance with facial theatrics. 2nd December - Drag King Special Discover a more exaggerated masculine side of performance to bring male gender stereotypes to life. With a brief history of this art-form by our guest tutor, the “King of Canal Street”, the award-winning Drag King & Cabaret Artist Wolfy. 6th January - Nerdlesque, Horror & Comedy Explore the bold, bizarre and hilarious. Bring theatrical skills and over the top characterisation to make an act truly memorable for stage. 13th January - Alternative & Political Cabaret Do you have something to say but don’t know how to express it? Burlesque and Cabaret is laced with a political undertone and this workshop will focus on the more alternative side to performance and storytelling. 20th January - Confidence & Polish Refine your act and build your presence to be stage ready. With a guest DJ, you will be able to have your first taste of performing in-front of your peers in a safe and supportive environment. Sunday 31st January - The Grand Showcase at Matt and Phreds Manchester. Shine under the spotlight at the iconic jazz club Matt and Phreds which has been home to Cherie Bebe’s Burlesque Revue for 13 years. Be part of a lineup of brand new acts for this special showcase. Invite your friends and loved ones, wear your finest, and prepare to dazzle your audience. Secure your place now —and let your burlesque journey begin... For anyone who books for all the full price sessions, you will receive a free session as well as a complimentary ticket to a 2027 Cherie Bebe’s Burlesque Revue event. We will also be hosting a complimentary 1 hour coffee afternoon for all students where we will cover applying for shows, festivals, events and the admin side of working as a performer whether it is as a hobby or full time. We will also be offering a number of reduced tickets known as “A Little Tease” for low income earners of if you are struggling with funds. These are at just £10 per workshop (plus a small online booking fee). T&C’s Tickets are non refundable. Please note that once you book a place the booking fee is automatically paid to Billetto and is also non refundable. What to wear? Whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Heels, trainers, flats are all acceptable. Clothing that is easy to move and that makes you feel at your most comfortable. Each lesson will cover some movement. Please make us aware of any injuries prior to the workshops and attendees will have areas to sit out should a lesson feel too overwhelming of if you need a break. For any classes which covers striptease, there is no requirement to remove any clothing if you don’t feel comfortable. We usually focus on working with items that are easy to remove and that can be worn and removed over existing clothing. The Proud Place is an all inclusive LGBTQ+ friendly accessible space. We welcome all backgrounds and genders. We have quiet areas available as well as complimentary tea and coffee for each workshop.
