Join us for JOY!, a special variety scratch event in aid of national suicide prevention. We will be raising money for the amazing charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

JOY! will be a celebration of all the big and small things that make life worth living.

This event is strictly 18+ due to venue licensing.

ABOUT JOY!

September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. At Red Line Theatre, campaigning around mental health issues & awareness is one of our biggest passions. Conversations around suicide are often heavy and difficult to navigate. Whilst RLT do a lot of serious work around MH, JOY! will be about creating a space that celebrates the positives of life that we can hold onto when things get tough, whilst also raising a bit of money for an incredible charity that do so much work to help those in desperate need of support.

The event will be taking place at The Eagle Inn on the 22nd September from 18:30, with acts starting at 19:00. This will be a relaxed event with cabaret style seating and plenty of opportunities to get up, grab a drink, and have a chinwag and a giggle.

We want this event to be silly, fun, and, most of all, joyful. This is a celebration - life shouldn’t just be about holding on. It should be about JOY!

PERFORMANCE SLOTS:

There will be slots for performers to have 3-5 minutes to share a piece of creative work dedicated to something that makes life worth living for them. This can be anything, big or small. The only stipulation is that it must focus on the positive and the celebratory. We will not be vetting the performance pieces, so we kindly ask you to be respectful of this and not perform anything that is distressing or inflammatory. The aim is to create an environment that is joyful and accessible without need for content warnings, so this particular event is not an appropriate space to talk about or discuss trauma.

There may be additional sign-up slots available on the day.

VISUAL ART:

We will also have a space to display visual art up on the balcony at The Eagle Inn! If you are a visual artist and would like to display something that fits the theme, please get in touch with us at redlinetheatreco@gmail.com.

ABOUT THE FUNDS RAISED:

90% of ticketing proceeds will go directly to CALM. The remaining 10% will go towards supporting Red Line Theatre so that we can continue to organise more events like this one.

We don’t expect to raise a lot of money, as we have kept tickets as cheap as we possibly could, but we do hope to raise additional funds on the day, so please bring cash along. Any additional donations will go directly to CALM.
