Melanie Williams is a British soul and dance singer closely associated with Manchester’s vibrant music scene. Although born in London, she built her career in Greater Manchester, where she worked with songwriter Eric Gooden and first gained recognition as one half of the duo Temper Temper before achieving mainstream success as the guest vocalist on Sub Sub’s 1993 hit “Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use)”, which reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and became a defining anthem of the city’s club culture. She later launched a solo career with her album Human Cradle and singles including “Everyday Thang” and “You Are Everything,” showcasing her distinctive blend of soul, R&B and dance music. Throughout her career, Williams has continued to collaborate with Manchester musicians and remains a respected figure in the city’s rich musical heritage.
