A personal and generational memoir about the transformative power of punk rock for entire generations of small-town artists and outsiders
From Blackpool's faded tatty seaside town to being the first person to interview Nirvana, from decades of DIY undergound music with the Membranes to a high profile media career, from post punk to Madchester to Creation records to trying to save the world with punk rock DIY ethics this is the story of a small town outsider who finds punk rock but was not sure how to do it properly in a book about the true punk experience as opposed to the London inner circle.
This is a decades long story full of the wild and impassioned characters who made real cultural and social change in the UK from somehone who was there at all the key moments.
This is a personal and generational memoir about the transformative power of punk rock for entire generations of small-town artists and outsiders and how Punk rock and DIY culture can be life changing. This book proves it.
Thank God it ruined all our lives!
Copies of John's book will be availble to buy at the Festival and there'll be a dedicated book signing after the event.
