The Responsible Individual Training for Children’s Homes – In-Person event in Manchester is set for October 22, 2026, from 9:30 AM at The Anthony Seddon Centre. This training programme, tailored for current and aspiring Responsible Individuals, will delve into the core responsibilities of the role. A range of expert speakers will offer invaluable advice to ensure all participants are thoroughly prepared. Each participant will need to pay £264 for full access to the day’s sessions.
Are you a Responsible Individual for a Children's Home or planning to become one? Have you had training on what the role involves?
Join us for an immersive, in-person session designed exclusively for Responsible Individuals (RIs) in children’s homes, whether you’re already registered or planning to step into the role. For the past decade, Valerie Turlock of CHQ has led this flagship programme, one of the very first to be developed in the sector following the 2015 Children’s Home Regulations. Now, responding to your demand and the unique advantages of face-to-face learning, Rebecca will deliver this established course in Ashton-under-Lyne (OL6 6AQ), offering extended time for discussion, connection, networking and deeper exploration.
practices
From the moment you arrive, you’ll step into a focused, high‑support learning environment designed to give you practical insight and legal clarity. You’ll leave with hands‑on strategies you can apply immediately in your RI role. The session’s learning outcomes include:
Understand the legal requirements related to the Responsible Individual role.
Understand how to manage, support and learn from the inspection process.
Share best practices on effective practical systems to fulfil the Responsible Individual role.
Contribute to developments for improving the care quality and performance of children's homes.
Identify support needs and learn more about the systems in place to support Responsible Individuals.
Because this is an in-person event, you’ll have the opportunity to share real-world challenges with fellow RIs from your region, forge professional connections and pick up tips you won’t find online. Rebecca’s dynamic delivery style creates space for small-group exercises, scenario-based discussions, and one-to-one problem-solving, so you leave not just with knowledge but with practical tools you can put into action immediately.
Whether you’re seeking a refresher on the regulations, preparing for your first inspection or looking to benchmark your systems against sector best practice, this session will equip you with the expertise, confidence and supportive network you need. Don’t miss your chance to learn from CHQ’s pioneering course in a rich, collaborative environment.
Spaces are limited to ensure high‑quality discussion, personalised support, and meaningful peer learning. Secure your place today and take your RI role to the next level.
