About This Event

Didsbury Girls x Venture Out: Self-Guided Kayak Adventure 🚣‍♀️

Join Didsbury Girls and Venture Out for a relaxed self-guided kayaking adventure along the beautiful Northenden route on the River Mersey.

This is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy some fresh air, meet new people, and experience Manchester from a different perspective. You'll paddle in stable two-person kayaks, following a designated route at your own pace. Whether you're a complete beginner or have kayaked before, this is a fun and welcoming activity for everyone.

What's included

Hire of a two-person kayak

Paddle and buoyancy aid (life jacket)

Safety briefing from the Venture Out team before you set off

A designated self-guided route

Plenty of opportunities to chat, explore and enjoy the scenery

Important information

No previous kayaking experience is required.

All participants must be able to swim confidently.

A buoyancy aid must be worn at all times while on the water.

Please wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting splashed, along with secure footwear (old trainers or water shoes are ideal). Avoid flip-flops.

We recommend bringing a change of clothes and a towel just in case.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked session to allow time for check-in and the safety briefing.

This is an outdoor activity and will go ahead in most weather conditions. In the event of severe weather or unsafe river conditions, we will contact participants if the session needs to be postponed or cancelled.

Participants take part at their own risk and should follow all instructions provided by the Venture Out team throughout the activity.

Details

The starting point will be Burnage Rugby Club, Heaton Mersey, SK4 3EA, which is a 10-minute walk from East Didsbury Tram Stop, or a short drive from Didsbury.

The finish point is Riverside Park, Northenden M22 4HJ. Please note, no transport is provided after the event; it is a 5-minute drive/bus back to Didsbury. Participant will have to sort their transport back, for example, if you left a car at the start point.

The paddle would take around 75-90 minutes.

If you wish to bring bags with spare clothes in, these can be brought to the end point by the Venture Out team.
