Join our Summer Cosy Reading Club at Manchester Central Library, a silent reading group offering a calm, cool shared space to unwind with a book you love.

There’s no pressured discussions, no set text and no expectations at our reading club, just dedicated time carved out to read in comfortable surroundings and the motivating company of fellow book lovers.

Whether you're looking for a gentle break from a busy day, a reason to avoid the rush hour or simply a cosy corner to enjoy your current read in the heart of the city, everyone is welcome.

Bring something you’d like to read or arrive before the session begins at 6pm to browse our book displays or get personalised help from our friendly library team to find your next favourite book!

What to expect:

Doors open from 5:30pm

Settle into your favourite chair and grab a free hot drink

Bring your own book or choose one from our curated displays

Library staff will be on hand to help you find a book you won't want to put down

6:00 - 6:45pm – Quiet Reading Session

Quiet, individual reading in a shared, relaxed space

A calm, welcoming environment to slow down, breathe and immerse yourself in a world of words

6:45 – 7:30pm - Optional Sharing Time & Social

A gentle opportunity to chat about what you’ve been reading and meet fellow book lovers

This is completely optional with no pressure to stay or take part

Free light refreshments are provided. Stay for as long or as little as you like.

Tickets are free but any pay as you feel donations are fully welcomed.
