Training - A half day face to face training course developed by Alexandra Lilley for Dealing with Crisis in Children's Homes
1/2 day training course - Dealing with Crisis in Children's Homes
Crisis in residential children’s homes is never just “challenging behaviour”, it’s communication under pressure. Behind every escalation is a young person navigating trauma, loss, fear, or unmet need. How we respond in those moments doesn’t just manage risk, it shapes trust, safety, and long-term outcomes.
In this training, Dr. Alexandra Lilley, HCPC-registered Forensic Psychologist and Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (Division of Forensic Psychology), brings frontline experience from secure forensic settings, HM Prison Service, intellectual disability services, and CAMHS inpatient care for young people aged 12–18 in acute mental health crisis.
Drawing on expertise in risk assessment, psychological formulation, and evidence-based intervention, this session will equip you with practical, psychologically informed strategies to respond confidently and effectively when crisis hits. Grounded in trauma awareness and collaborative care, the focus is simple: reduce harm, increase understanding, and strengthen therapeutic relationships when it matters most.
Because in residential care, the way we handle crisis can become the turning point.
