Junction Arts is back with community lantern-making workshops at Bolsover Assembly Hall, ready to brighten up your weekends.

Book your place and be part of the Bolsover Lantern Parade on Saturday 28th November, one of the biggest and longest-running light processions in the UK!

Please follow the below steps for booking:

Attending the lantern-making workshops

If you are coming along to make a lantern, you will need to:

Book your place(s) - a place must be booked for every person in your party who is attending. This is required to guarantee a seat in the workshops as we have limited capacity in the venue.

Book your lantern(s) - this is to book the number of lanterns you wish to make in your party.

Making at home

If you would like to make a lantern at home, you are welcome to drop into a workshop to pick up materials between the hours of 11:00-12:30 and 14:30-15:30. You’ll also be able to get a bit of guidance from our team. You will need to select the specific workshop session you wish to drop into and then:

Book your Click and collect lantern(s)

There are 12 sessions available, over 3 weekends, and each session is 2.5 hours long. Workshops are supported by a team of artists, volunteers and Junction Arts staff to help you create your masterpieces. The types of lanterns you can make are:

Small = £7 (using the small kit which includes one set of lights). We recommend booking 1 session (2.5 hours) if you're making a small lantern.

Medium = £14 (using the medium kit which includes two sets of lights). We recommend booking 2 sessions (2 x 2.5 hours) if you're making a medium lantern.

Large = £20 (using the large kit which includes two sets of lights). We recommend booking 4 sessions (4 x 2.5 hours) if you're making a large lantern.

We have a suggested minimum lantern-making age of 8 years. Please see the FAQs for more information about tickets.

Quiet and Noisy sessions

We understand that some of our audiences struggle with spaces that are overstimulating. Our ‘Quiet Sessions’ support participants with sensory processing differences, neurodivergent participants or those living with neurological conditions, as well as early-year participants, parents and carers.

We recognise the diverse needs of our audiences, and that not all sensory needs require a quiet space, so to support our audiences who enjoy noisier spaces, we encourage participants to be as loud and energetic as they like, without the worry of being hushed or told to be quiet during our ‘Noisy Sessions’.

All sessions are open for all participants to book onto, but we ask that you be mindful of the environmental needs of others when booking.
