The Shibori Silk Scarves workshop will take place on 12 December 2026 at Hardwick in Chesterfield. Participants will learn basic techniques of the Japanese tie-dye art and create a unique silk scarf. The session lasts 2.5 hours with all materials provided.
Learn the art of shibori dying. Shibori is the Japanese art of tie dye and this is often traditionally paired with dyeing in indigo, a plant based dye that produces stunning shades of blue.
This workshop will introduce you to some of the basic techniques with plenty of scope to experiment and find the effects you like. You will also have time to design and dye your own long silk scarf, going home with a unique and wearable creation.
The team at Hardwick will be on hand to guide you through the process on natural dyeing techniques.
This session will last 2.5 hours and all materials will be provided, including vinyl rubber gloves.
A parking ticket for the car park is not included in the workshop price.
