About Opera Nova

Based in the Teesside area, Opera Nova is an amateur opera group founded in the late 1960s. We have a proud tradition of singing and staging opera and are known for our professional standard of performance. Our main aim is to make opera appealing to local singers and audiences. Every opera has a story to tell and the marvellous music adds excitement and emotional power to the events that unfold on stage.

We need your help

Unfortunately, our applications for grant funding in 2026 were unsuccessful. This means that we are starting the 2026-2027 season with depleted resources. We have very little money in the bank. It is doubtful that we can survive without donations to support us.

If you would like to help Opera Nova to continue to produce high quality accessible opera, you can become a Sponsor (£100), Patron (£50), Friend (£10) or simply make a donation to support our work.
