About This Event

The 'Access to Work for Founders with Disabilities' event is scheduled for 1 December 2026 at the MK:U Innovation Hub in Milton Keynes. This session is designed for individuals who are disabled, neurodivergent, or living with health conditions, providing information on how Access to Work can assist them in their careers. Attendance is free.

Disabled, neurodivergent or living with a health condition? Learn how Access to Work can fund support to help you thrive in work.

Is your disability, health condition or neurodivergence making work harder than it needs to be?

Whether you’re employed, self-employed, running a business or about to start a new job, the right support can make a real difference. Access to Work is a government scheme that can fund practical help so you can work in a way that suits you. Many people who are eligible have never heard of it.

Access to Work can support people with:

Physical disabilities and mobility needs

Sensory impairments, such as hearing or sight loss

Long-term health conditions, such as chronic pain, fatigue or diabetes

Neurodivergence, including ADHD, AuDHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia

In this session you’ll learn:

What Access to Work is, and who can apply

How to apply, step by step, and how to describe your needs clearly

What support you might get, such as specialist equipment, assistive tech, travel help, support workers or coaching

How it works if you’re self-employed or running your own business

How to use your award well once you have it

Common sticking points, and how to get past them

This session is for you if:

You have a disability, health condition or are neurodivergent (diagnosed or not yet)

You’re running your own business or work in a business

You feel stretched or overwhelmed and want to work more sustainably

You’ve heard of Access to Work but don’t know where to start

You have an award but aren’t sure how to make the most of it
