Delighted to be one of the handful of venues who will be hosting a very special co-headline show by The Early Years and Sennen later this year. Now reunited as labelmates on the always brilliant Sonic Cathedral records, both bands grew out of the shoegaze adjacent scene of the early 2000s – the former more influenced by krautrock and drone, the latter combining post-rock and harmonies – but they’ve both been silent for the best part of a decade. Until now. The Early Years released their long-awaited third album, Modern Moonlight, at the end of May to great acclaim, while Sennen are also gearing up to share their first new material in over a decade. The Early Years formed in East London in 2005 and have released three albums, each ten years apart: 2006’s self-titled debut for Beggars Banquet, 2016’s II, named as one of Uncut’s Greatest Albums of the 2010s, and this year’s long-awaited Modern Moonlight. They’ve been remixed by the late, great Andrew Weatherall, praised by Brian Eno and toured with RIDE. Their live shows are the stuff of legend, and this small run of dates will be their first for over EIGHT YEARS!. Their most recent album was 2016’s First Light, but other than three dates to promote a reissue of Widows in 2021 they’ve not toured since.
