A Battle of Ideas Satellite event on the legacy of the philosopher Roger Scruton and the future of conservatism

Alistair Miller, the current editor of the Salisbury Review, will be in conversation with University of Buckingham post-graduate student, Daniel Silveira, about the legacy of the thought of the distinguished philosopher, Professor Sir Roger Scuton and the future of conservatism. Scruton was appointed as the chief editor of the Review in 1982 and stayed in that role for eighteen years.

Professor Sir Roger Scruton (1944 – 2020) was the inaugural professor of philosophy at the University of Buckingham. He published more than forty books in philosophy, aesthetics, and politics. His work has been translated into dozens of languages.

About our speakers

Dr Alistair Miller is the Current Editor of the Salisbury Review. He is a philosopher who writes regularly on philosophy of education and is the author of A New Vision of Liberal Education: the good of the unexamined life (2015)

Daniel Silveira is the co-convener of AFAF at the University of Buckingham. He is currently undertaking an MA by Research in Philosophy at the University of Buckingham, where his research focuses on moralising oikophilia. In addition, he has over six years of professional experience in marketing and he holds a BBA and an MSc in Marketing.
