Explore the history of wine with The Table Project: five wines, food pairings and local sommeliers at St Mary’s, Gateshead, on 6 December

A journey through wine, food & history

Join us at the beautiful St Mary's Heritage Centre in Gateshead for an evening exploring the rich and fascinating history of wine, one glass at a time!

Organised by The Table Project and hosted by two brilliant local sommeliers, Ailsa Samuels, who brings extensive experience and knowledge of natural wine, and Vanessa Stoltz, sommelier at Northumberland's Michelin-starred restaurant, Pine.

Together, they'll take you on a journey through the history of winemaking, exploring how wine has evolved over centuries, the people and places that have shaped it, and the traditions that continue to influence what we drink today.

Throughout the evening, you'll enjoy five carefully selected wines, each accompanied by a food pairing, bringing the stories, flavours and history of each glass to life.

Whether you're a wine enthusiast or simply fancy learning something new over a few lovely glasses of wine and some delicious food, this evening is for you. No previous wine knowledge needed!

Whats included:

Five wines exploring the history and evolution of winemaking

Five accompanying food pairings

A guided tasting hosted by two experienced local sommeliers

An evening of storytelling, history and, of course, great wine!
