Course content
This is an updated version of the course I ran during COVID, which was online. The complex subject of oceanography will be broken down into its key components, namely the geology, physics, chemistry and biology of the oceans.
The course will begin with an introduction to the history of oceanography and conclude with a look at the laws governing the oceans, current conditions, and what is being done to help them recover from pollution and overexploitation.
There will be a single full-day field trip to Cullercoats which I hope will include a visit to the Dove Marine Laboratory (TBC).
Accessibility
Field trips will involve rough ground and difficult terrain in places. Often, no toilet facilities are present in the immediate area.
Essential equipment
Sturdy footwear, outdoor clothing, lunch.
Course programme
Please note, the date for the field trip is still to be determined; likely towards the end of the course.
