Mutual support and useful pointers for those seeking permanent or temporary employment, or wanting to return to work after a break

Are you a school leaver or a graduate looking for work, either a temporary job to fit round your studies or your first permanent role? Or an older person between jobs or perhaps wanting to return to work after a break?

It can be tough out there with few opportunities and fierce competition for them. Then there are the lengthy application forms to complete, or speculative letters to write to prospective employers and often the employer does not even reply to you, let alone invite you for an interview.

There are organisations e.g. government initiatives, local businesses and charities trying to help but it’s all a bit of a minefield.

And there’s often nobody to talk to about it or share your frustrations with.

So why not come along to the Job Club for some mutual support and hopefully some useful pointers.

With the help of a former HR manager with experience of recruitment and who has had periods of unemployment (including as a new graduate) but always found work in the end, we will explore and share ideas and experiences on:

· Where to look for a job

· How to apply for a job

· Job Interviews

· Preparation for the life of work

· Other resources and organisations that can help you

· Staying positive and using your time productively

This is the first in a series of three job club events. The next sessions will be held on Saturday 19th December and Saturday 13th January.
