About this Event
The BSBI (https://bsbi.org/) New Year Plant Hunt runs for four days each year and aims to track how our wild and naturalised plants are reacting to changing weather conditions.
Join NHSN Ouse Burn Naturalist, James Common, for a morning of urban wildflowers as we see together how many species we can find in bloom on the streets of Heaton. Wild species, garden escapes, urban invaders, we'll look for them all.
Please wear decent walking boots. Do feel free to bring a hand lens or handy field guide. Together, we'll explore urban areas of Heaton before moving east towards Heaton Park.

About the event lead
James is NHSN’s Ouse Burn Naturalist and a local botanist passionate about biological recording. Away from work, he is a botanical Vice-County Recorder for North Northumberland. He blogs at Common by Nature (https://commonbynature.com/)and is the author of The Urban Flora of Newcastle & North Tyneside.
