The concert opens with the overture to Handel’s Messiah , whose stately grandeur and dramatic contrasts have made it one of the defining works of the Baroque repertoire. Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor follows, combining energy, poise, and expressive depth with moments of striking lyricism for the solo violin. Vivaldi’s La Follia takes one of Europe’s oldest musical themes and transforms it into a brilliant sequence of variations. Built on a repeating bass line, the work showcases Vivaldi’s invention and the solo violin’s virtuosity. The evening culminates in The Four Seasons , one of the most celebrated works in classical music. From birdsong and summer storms to harvest festivities and the icy chill of winter, Vivaldi’s vivid musical depictions of nature remain as captivating today as they were three centuries ago.
