An introduction to bookbinding, utilising the traditional technique of saddle stitch binding. Create your own bookss, using the traditional technique and some playful variations.

All abilities welcome, from absolute beginner to full time pro, all are welcome.

Bookbinding kits will be available to purchase after the session.

🎨 Materials

All materials will be provided, including paper, needles, thread, and bone folders.

📖 About Overlay Press

Overlay Press is a DIY small press and creative print studio based in Newcastle upon Tyne, established in 2021. They specialise in bespoke printing, bookmarking and design-led problem solving, collaborating closely with artists, designers and community groups to bring bold thoughtful ideas to life in print. Overlay Press is run by Erika Tyson-Green, Oliver Hoffmeister and George Stewart.

♿ Access information

Slugtown is a ground floor unit with step-free access, and wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately we do not have an accessible toilet.

🅿️ Parking

There is paid parking available at Stoddart House car park round the back of the gallery. The parking is free after 6pm.
