Can you help us raise £5K to help create Y Stiwdio?

About Y Stiwdio

For 40 years, Ballet Cymru has been inspiring audiences through the magic of dance. Founded in Newport in 1986 by Yvonne Williams and Darius James OBE, the company has grown into a celebrated presence on the dance scene, sharing professional ballet and contemporary dance performances across Wales, the UK and internationally.

In 2013/14, we established our home for rehearsals and training at the Wern Trading Estate in Rogerstone. Today, our purpose-built facilities include two spacious dance studios, office space and dedicated storage – including a wonderful collection of beautiful costumes created throughout our 40-year history.

Following an extensive refurbishment, we’ve made our building more sustainable and energy efficient. And here’s a little fact to brighten your day: we have 210 solar PV panels on our roof!

Now, we’re ready to take our next exciting leap: onto our very own stage.

Our fundraising campaign aims to open our doors wider to the community by transforming our building into Y Stiwdio – a fully equipped cultural venue for performances, events and creative activities. We want to create a welcoming space where people can come together to experience dance, discover creativity and share in the arts.

Our target is to raise at least 2% of our current fundraising target of £250K. £5,000 would bring the shortfall gap in our funding applications and would help make Y Stiwdio a reality.

This year’s Festive Gathering is a particularly special occasion: a chance to celebrate 40 wonderful years of Ballet Cymru, look ahead to an exciting new chapter, and help bring our dream of Y Stiwdio to life.

Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to share what comes next!

We look forward to welcoming you!
