An interactive musical story for children aged 4-8

Iiiiiiiit’s carnival time! Think whirling carousels, splat the rat, goldfish prizes and wafts of candyfloss and roasted nuts. Excited families like yours, are descending upon St John Baptist church to get their fill of live music, story and dance!

From this hustle and bustle, Sam steps into the quiet, calm of a tent. Props and costumes are hung up there expectantly and crumpled over, slap-bang in the middle, is a wooden puppet in candy-striped trousers. His name is Sid.

‘When Sam met Sid’ is the story of a chance encounter between a curious girl and a wooden puppet. The bells ring and the magic of the carnival unfolds as Sid’s stiff frame starts to soften…...

Join the City of Newport Symphony Orchestra for a merry-go-round of musical delights by Doreen Carwithen, Eric Coates and Aaron Copland.

Come dressed colourfully! Ready for celebration, ready for adventure, ready for a carnival!

Written and presented by Helena Todd and Anna Beresford.
