We are thrilled to announce that we are bringing the Youth in Nature Summit out into nature this September!
This is a chance to spend some time in nature with likeminded young people. Whether you’re new to anything nature or an experienced birder, this is aimed to bring everyone together for the love of the natural world we share. From bird walks to fungi ID and nature journaling there’s something for everyone!
The 2026 youth-led Summit is organised by BTO’s Youth Advisory Panel and Youth Representatives in collaboration with the RSPB's Youth Council.
Building on the spirit of previous Summits, young people are coming together to organise a fantastic event designed to inspire and engage young people (aged 14-25) across the environmental sector, while welcoming voices from all backgrounds and removing barriers to participation.
Tickets
The Youth Out in Nature Summit is open to young people aged 14–25.
All tickets are free, so that cost is never a barrier to taking part. During the booking process, there will be an optional add-on donation, and we warmly encourage anyone who feels able to contribute to do so. Any amount, big or small, is truly valued and helps cover event costs such as the venue, catering, and workshops, as well as funding travel bursaries to enable more young people to attend. Your support helps keep the Summit free and accessible to everyone.
An accompanying parent/carer ticket will also be available for parents or carers attending with under 16s, or for carers supporting attendees with disabilities or additional support needs.
Anyone under 16 will require a parent/carer to attend with them. 16 and 17 year olds will require parental consent to attend.
Accessibility
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and has an accessible toilet. Guide dogs are welcome, and gender-neutral toilets are available.
There are three mobility scooters and two wheelchairs available for use on the reserve. In order to book them you will need to get a ticket and then select the add-on at the checkout, this will be done on a first come first serve basis. If you encounter any issues please email youthsummit@bto.org.
To borrow mobility equipment please bring a RSPB membership card, or photo ID and proof of address if not a RSPB member.
There is a mobility passport scheme for the convenience of regular users, please ask at reception for details. All trails are level on compacted gravel and dust, with one incline using a zig-zag. Floating walkways have been used by wheelchairs, scooters and pushchairs but caution should be taken due to buoyancy. A wheelchair-accessible hide and viewing screens overlook the reedbeds and main lagoons.
An accompanying parent or carer ticket is available for under 16s, or for attendees who require additional support. For any other accessibility needs, please get in touch with us in advance so we can help make the event as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
Travel Bursaries Available
We want to make the Youth Out in Nature Summit accessible to everyone. If you need help with travel costs, you can select a travel bursary when booking your ticket. Funds are limited, so please only apply if you genuinely need support. After your ticket purchase, we’ll email you to confirm your bursary. The exact contribution provided will depend on the number of attendees requesting support.
Equipment
To help make this event as accessible to everyone as possible we will have binoculars to borrow on the day of the event. If you would like to borrow a pair please select this as an add on when securing your ticket. If you are under 21, consider applying to the BTO's Equipment Donation Scheme. The scheme provides donated binoculars and guide books to those who don't have access to their own.
