About This Event

The talk 'Betrayal: Trump, Putin and the New World Order' will take place on 28 January 2027 at The Forum in Norwich. The event will explore the dynamics of global politics involving key figures such as Trump and Putin. Tickets are priced between £8.83 and £16.96.

With Luke Harding and Tom Parfitt

Donald Trump's apparent admiration for Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping is raising profound questions about America's place in the world. As Washington questions longstanding alliances and powerful leaders contemplate new deals, is the international order that has shaped global security for eight decades being dismantled from within? And who stands to gain, or lose, from this new era of great-power politics?

Russia's war in Ukraine has exposed the fragility of European security, while Trump's approach to Moscow has raised questions about the future of NATO and America's commitment to its allies. Are we witnessing a return to a world in which great powers negotiate spheres of influence, and smaller nations are left with little say over their own futures? Can Putin be trusted to honour a peace agreement? And is Trump reshaping American foreign policy or abandoning the principles that once underpinned it?

Two journalists who know Russia from the inside join us to examine the personalities, ambitions and calculations driving this changing world order. Two
