About This Event

A National Trust Ranger will guide participants on a beginner birdwatch walk at Blakeney National Nature Reserve in Norwich. The event is scheduled for September 12, 2026, and costs nothing.

Ever looked at a bird, known what it was called, but never really known much about it? Join a National Trust Ranger for a relaxed beginner birdwatch designed for people completely new to birdwatching.

This session will focus on a handful of carefully chosen common birds, giving you the chance to slow down, look a little closer and discover the stories behind the wildlife you see every day. It’s all about learning how to notice.

Together we’ll explore different habitats, learn simple techniques for using binoculars and spotting scopes, watch behaviour, listen to birdsong and build the confidence to head out on your own. Along the way you’ll meet like-minded people, spend time away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature at a gentler pace.
