About This Event

The Jenny Lind and Norwich walking tour will be held on 23rd October at The Erpingham Gate in Norwich. The event celebrates the Norwich concerts of Jenny Lind and the story of the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital. The price for the event is £12.00.

A walking tour celebrating the Norwich concerts of Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale, and the story of the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital.

A walk with Norwich tour guide, Paul Dickson, looking at the story Jenny Lind Hospital. The tour covers Jenny Lind's concerts in Norwich in 1847 and 1849 and the foundation of the Jenny Lind Hospital; and includes visits to the old Bishop's Palace where Jenny Lind stayed (courtesy of Norwich School) and Norwich Cathedral to view the memorial window to Bishop Stanley, who was Jenny Lind's host. We will also go to the Norfolk Heritage Centre at The Forum to view the programmes of the Jenny Lind concerts and other historic promotional material, finishing with a walk to Pottergate to see the site of the original Jenny Lind Hospital. The tour starts at the Erpingham Gate of Norwich Cathedral in Tombland.
