What is Nottinghack?
Nottinghack is a Nottingham based group for hackers, makers and crafty creatives! We are a non-profit, owned and run by our members.
Hacking should not be confused with network hacking, identity theft and computer virus propagation, etc. Nottingham Hackspace does not condone anything illegal; hardware Hacking is a creative, educational hobby!
Who is it for?
If you like to build, make & learn it’s for you. You’ll probably be interested in learning about and sharing knowledge of electronics, crafts, robotics, DIY, laser cutting, CNC, 3D Printing, hardware hacking, photography, computing, reverse engineering, prototyping, film making, animation, building RC vehicles or robots and other creative challenges and projects.
You’ll be looking for a group who can share tools, techniques and time; pool resources for bigger projects, get funding, discounts on kits and components and start classes and workshops, all in a safe friendly environment!
Why do a tour?
A tour is required for membership of the Hackspace. We will inform you of what equipment and rooms we have, how the space operates, how much it costs, and how to join. The tour will take roughly an hour and allow for questions at the end - so please raise anything you want to ask.
The Hackspace is wheelchair accessible via the entrance on Roden Street. There is a lift to get to the first floor. If you email the membership team (membership@nottinghack.org.uk) we can provide clearer instructions or meet you downstairs, and show through the building to the workshop entrance. We have an accessible toilet on the first floor.
Arriving and Accessibility
Access to the hackspace is through the blue door on the corner between Ashley Street and Alfred Street, with a hackspace logo on either side. There's an image below also. Once you go in, head up the spiral stairs and through two doors into our comfy area where someone will greet you.

///plot.spins.kind - for the main entrance
///shells.second.miss - access entrance via the lift
If you want to cycle to the space, please feel free to bring your bike up - although you'll need to carry it up a spiral staircase unless you email us beforehand to arrange accessing the space by the lift.
Ticket Bookings
We appreciate that going to a mysterious building on the edge of town can be a bit daunting - I promise we're all very nice! Please do bring a plus one with you if you want the support, but there's no need to book a ticket for them. Your chaperone can still join as a member if they want to, as long as they attend the tour. We find it difficult to balance the number of people on a tour against the number of chaperones. Too many chaperones limits the ticket availability for potential members - for this reason we've limited the number of tickets per sale to one. For couples and friends who both want to become a member, please send the link and ask them to sign up for the tour separately.
If you were a member previously, you do not need to attend the tour. Send an email to membership@nottinghackorg.uk or see our Member's Guide for information on how to re-join.
Online Community
We also invite you to join our online Discord community, where you can ask questions about the hackspace before or after your tour in our public channels. If you become a member, you can link your account to your hackspace profile and gain access to our teams and events channels.
You can also find us on social media: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon and Twitter. Our website is nottinghack.org.uk
Donations
If you enjoyed the tour and have a bit of spare change, there's a talking donation bot in the comfy area. It's not required and no one will ask, but a small contribution would certainly be appreciated.
