This practical training session focuses on engaging domestic abuse perpetrators safely and managing associated risks. Overview

Building on the theoretical foundations from Recognising Perpetrators of Domestic Abuse: Understanding & Theory, this practical session focuses on how to safely and effectively respond to perpetrators of domestic abuse. You will develop key engagement skills, learn how to manage risk, and gain confidence in applying best practice approaches in real-world settings.

What will you learn?

This session provides guidance on how to:

Build a safe and boundaried alliance with a perpetrator, developing rapport while maintaining accountability

Engage in effective, purposeful conversations that support behaviour change· Identify and respond to risk, including safer practice principles

Recognise indicators of positive change and ongoing risk

Complete an in-depth and appropriate referral to a voluntary Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme (DVPP)

Apply practical tools and strategies within your professional role
