Summer of Play features pop-up poetry at Hardwick in Nottingham on 18 August 2026 at 10:00. A poet creates short poems based on chosen themes. Admission is required.

Pick a topic, family, nature, or even ice-cream and watch a Poet extraordinaire turn your chosen theme into a short poem which you can take home from their typewriter.

Watching these creatives at work is a great way to get your kids interested in writing, and they have a sentimental keepsake to take home at the end of the day.

This is a free activity but admission applies, for non-members of the National Trust, or visitors without a general admission ticket to the House and Gardens, the Wider Estate admission fees apply:

• Adult: £6.00

• Child: £3.00

• Family (2 adults, 2 children): £15.00

• Family (1 adult, 2 children): £9.00
