About This Event

The BMC Social Walk: Pendle Hill, North West will take place on 2026-08-29 at 08:50, starting from TBA in the city of Online, led by BMC North West volunteer, Nick Howard, for £2.00.

A northern classic, join the BMC to the summit of Pendle Hill

You are invited to join a peer-led walk, hosted by BMC North West volunteer, Nick Howard. The village of Downham in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies at the foot of Pendle Hill, close to the thriving market town of Clitheroe. It is often hailed as the most beautiful village in Lancashire, with unrivalled views, unspoilt by overhead wires, satellite dishes, roadside signage and TV aerials. From here we make our way using well marked paths up to the top of Pendle Hill for some fantastic views over the countryside, then return to Downham for an optional brew or pint.

We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable day in the outdoors!

Meet the Leader

Nick has been Hill Walking for over 30 years both in the UK and in Europe and is a qualified walk leader through Mountain Training. He is also qualified in first aid and mental health first aid. Nick volunteers for a charity that runs free wellness walks and organises walks once a month, which he has been doing for over two years. Nick is also the northwest volunteer for the mountain training association and organises peer days for its members as well as hosting walks for the BMC. Nick can often be found out in the hills with his dog Sheba, who also loves getting out into the great outdoors.
