About The Sugarhill Gang
The Sugarhill Gang is an American old-school hip-hop group formed in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1979. The original lineup consisted of Henry "Big Bank Hank" Jackson, Michael "Wonder Mike" Wright and Guy "Master Gee" O'Brien. Their debut single, "Rapper's Delight", released in 1979, became the first rap single to reach the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 36 on January 12, 1980. Although it was the group's only top 40 hit in the United States, they achieved additional commercial success in Europe during the early and mid-1980s.
