About This Event

A skill-sharing and networking event for community arts practitioners will be held at The Quad Theatre in Plymouth on 12 November 2026. It is designed to connect socially engaged creatives working in the region. Attendance is free.

Come and join this sector support event, connecting socially engaged creatives working in the region.

We know, from academic research, sector surveys and professional experience, that working in the field of creative health/socially enaged and community arts is a highly rewarding profession, but that it also comes with its challenges. In the South West, we have a really vibrant and inspiring workforce, but can lack in opportunities to connect, share our skills and learn from each other. If you are a freelancer or creative faciltator for a local organisation, we would love for you to join us for this sector support event.

This is a cross-art form event, where any and all creative practices (visual arts, dance, theatre, creative writing, photography, music....) are all welcome.

PLAN FOR THE EVENT:

Time: 10am-12pm

Venue: The Quad Theatre and Foyer, Plymouth Marjon.

Content: Skill-sharing, networking and a facilitated discussion of the Creative Health Quality Framework.

We would be delighted if as many people as possible would bring an activity (up to 10 mins in duration) that they would like to facilitate. We will split into smaller groups for this, depending on number of attendees. We can provide tables and chairs, but please bring any other resources you need. If you'd like a safe space to try something out and get feedback, or just have a game or prompt you love, we look forward to experiencing it.

We are afraid that we don't have a budget for refreshments, but there are cafes on campus. Parking is paid, via the Ringo app.

This event will be hosted by Dr Kate Massey-Chase, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for MA Arts, Health & Wellbeing, and students from the course.

Any questions, please email: KMassey-Chase@marjon.ac.uk
