Education Events in Portsmouth

Education events in Portsmouth cover every step of the learning journey — from a Year 6 open morning at a local primary to a university applicant day, a postgraduate taster session or an adult learning enrolment evening.

Open days and open evenings are the busiest part of the calendar. Schools, sixth forms and further education colleges in and around Portsmouth open their doors in the autumn term so families can see classrooms, meet subject staff and hear the headteacher's presentation before application deadlines. Universities and university centres run their own open days, applicant days, offer-holder days and campus tours through the year, often with subject showcases and clearing-period visits alongside them.

Beyond admissions, Portsmouth hosts UCAS and higher education fairs, apprenticeship and school-leaver events, graduation ceremonies, academic skills and research training sessions such as academic writing or dissertation workshops, and adult learning courses run by local colleges and community providers.

Most education events are free to attend but nearly all ask you to book a place, because schools and universities plan tours around numbers. Dates cluster tightly around admission deadlines, so it is worth checking the listings below early and booking as soon as a date appears.
