About This Event

The workshop 'Between Land and Tide: Natural Materials Starfish Decorating' is scheduled for 28 November 2026 at Art Space Portsmouth. Participants will use natural materials to create their own starfish, inspired by Olana Light’s work. This workshop is free to attend.

Play with natural materials and decorate your own starfish in this pop-up workshop inspired by Olana Light’s Between Land and Tide.

Join artist Olana Light for a hands-on creative workshop inspired by Between Land and Tide, a public art project exploring our connection with the ocean, nature and the world around us.

Using pre-cut hessian starfish shapes, participants will create their own unique starfish by decorating them with a variety of natural materials. Experiment with textures, colours and found natural elements to transform a simple shape into a beautiful, individual creation.

Through playful making and imagination, the workshop invites people of all ages to explore their creativity while discovering the beauty and fragility of our coastal environment.
